On the site of the Centro Cultural Julio Mario Santo Domingo the construction of a church for the San José de Bavaria neighborhood was initially planned. It was decided for the new church to be erected on a triangular site just a few blocks off from the original terrain, north of the Calle 170 intersection with Avenida Boyacá. The particular shape and reduced dimensions of the site greatly determined the design, as the triangular base was to be almost fully occupied to accommodate the required program. The project contains a congregational area for 350 seated and 150 standing visitors, a sacristy, priest´s residence, and diocese offices. The triangular volume organizes the program on three levels and a basement with technical rooms and parking spaces. The ceiling of the main nave, located on the ground floor, is sculpted by the receding volumes of the upper levels, where the complementary program is accommodated, and the terraced skylights that magnificently light the chapel.
